Pompeii

Pompeii was destroyed during a catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius on 79 AD. The volcano buried the city under many meters of ash and it was lost for 1,600 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1748. Since then, its excavation has provided an extraordinarily detailed insight into the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire.

Amalfi

Amalfi lies at the mouth of a deep ravine, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and coastal scenery. The town of Amalfi was the capital of The Maritime Republic of Amalfi, an important trading power in the Mediterranean in the Middle Age. At the top of a magnificent flight of stairs, the glorious cathedral of Amalfi, St. Andrew’s Duomo overlooks the Duomo sq., the heart of Amalfi.
